Emu Room (3–4 years)
The Emu Room is a lively and engaging space where children’s ideas, curiosity, and growing independence shape each day. At this stage, children are eager to connect, question, and explore, and our program is designed to support this energy through meaningful play, conversation, and shared experiences.
Our team includes two Early Childhood Teachers, one Early Childhood Teacher working in a Diploma role, three Diploma-qualified educators, and a dedicated trainee. Together, they bring a depth of knowledge, experience, and passion that supports rich learning opportunities and strong, responsive relationships with every child.
Children are immersed in a balance of group experiences, independent discovery, and collaborative play. Whether they are constructing with blocks, engaging in imaginative play, experimenting with creative materials, or sharing stories with peers, each experience is an opportunity to build confidence, communication skills, and resilience.

Our school readiness program is thoughtfully embedded within everyday play and routines, rather than taught in isolation. Children are supported to develop early literacy and numeracy skills, follow routines, manage transitions, and participate in group learning. Just as importantly, we focus on building emotional confidence, independence, and the ability to navigate social situations—key foundations for a successful transition to school.
The environment offers a variety of interconnected learning spaces, including creative arts, construction, home corner, and quiet retreat areas. These spaces invite children to make choices, follow their interests, and engage deeply in their play. Quiet areas provide opportunities for rest, reflection, or small group connections, recognising that children learn in different ways and at different paces.
We intentionally support children to develop independence and self-help skills, encouraging them to take ownership of their routines, care for their environment, and feel confident in their abilities. These everyday moments build a strong sense of competence and pride.

Outdoor play is an extension of our learning environment. Children enjoy shared access to the playground with our Wombat Room, as well as opportunities to explore the older preschool yard, allowing for more complex play, social interaction, and physical challenge.
The Emu Room is a place where children are supported to think, question, create, and connect—developing the skills, confidence, and curiosity that will carry them into their next stage of learning.
